MAWDDACH ESTUARY PATH
Tan y Coed - has immediate access to the famous Mawddach Estuary path - 9 miles of glorious (flat) walking or cycling running adjacent to the river Mawddach. Enter a world of mountain views and wildlife all whilst meandering along the old historic railway line. As featured on Julia Bradbury's BBC Railway Walks.
FAIRBOURNE MINIATURE STEAM RAILWAY
Just along the estuary trail - catch the little steam railway to the headland and then the short hop on the motor boat to Barmouth for sandy beaches; crabbing; donkeys and of course ice cream and tasty fish and chips!
Golden and sandy; pebbles and rocks; quiet and secluded– miles of beaches and coastline waiting to be explored – two beaches are within easy walking distance along the trail with Barmouth holding a Blue Flag.
CYCLE TO DOLGELLAU
The local historic town - famous during the gold rush! Pick up some tasty treats at the farmer's market and enjoy beautiful home-made cakes at the choice of local cafe's.
ARTHOG FALLS AND THE OLD OAK FOREST
For those who like to get the blood pumping take a walk up from the house through Arthog Falls and the old oak forest emerging at the top by the old drover's bridge and heading in a loop back alongside Cregennan Lakes and back down to the house.
Not forgetting the local famous mountain Cadair Idris - meaning 'Chair of Idris' from the giant warrior poet of Welsh legend at 2927ft.

George III Inn – directly on the estuary trail- sup a glass of wine or a pint of local Purple Moose Snowdonia Ale or Ysga Wen Ale whilst looking over the estuary
Fish n Chips from the Mermaid – award winning fish shop facing the sea – near the railway station – eat in or take away and munch on the beach front
The Last Inn Barmouth – favourite spot for soaking up the sun in the evening- lovely wine selection and food served
